SCOOP: New Pagani C9 Supercar Filmed Around the Factory

While Pagani is testing our nerves with its shadowy teaser videos, Youtube user 'Marchettino' caught the Italian supercar on test in its homeland. The first clean-sheet design Pagani in years, which is currently known by its C9 codename, is pegged for a debut at the Geneva Salon in March. The gullwing-door supercar will be powered by a new 6.0-liter bi-turbocharged V12 sourced from Mercedes-Benz's AMG division, tuned to deliver somewhere around 700 horsepower and over 1,000 Nm or 738 lb-ft of peak torque. Video follows after the jump.

VIDEO: Second Pagani C9 Teaser Shows Interior Details

We didn’t have to wait long for the second teaser of the Pagani C9 to be released and, fortunately, this time it’s more about the car than some presumably good Italian coffee. The clip shows some of the interior’s highlights. Amidst the symphony of exposed metal parts and high quality leather, we could make out a Ferrari 458 Italia-style steering wheel, with all sorts of switches (including index controls), and the engine key featured in the first teaser. Video and screenshots available after the jump.

VIDEO: Pagani C9 Teaser Shows Scale Model with Engine Key

One would expect an action-filled teaser for a supercar like the upcoming Pagani C9, which will replace the aging Zonda, but the Italian maker approached the task in a more laid-back manner, choosing to show us a man enjoying some coffee and the written news. And then, at the end of the clip, he picks up something that resembles a scale model of the new supercar incorporating what appears to be the engine key. Now, is this the best way to start your day or what? Video after the jump.

VIDEO: Making of the Real Life Lamborghini Police Car vs Pagani Zonda Film

With modern day racing video games blurring the lines between virtuality and reality, it's no wonder some readers mistook last Friday's Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Trailer featuring a Police-livered Lamborghini Murcielago and a Pagani Zonda for a very well executed CGI when in fact it was a real-life film (see it here). If you still have doubts, then follow the jump to watch the video and get behind the scenes of the live-action shoot out.

Live Action Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Trailer with Pagani vs Lamborghini [VIDEO]

Live action game trailers are nothing new. It's an easy way for developers to tease their upcoming titles without having to reveal any actual graphics or gameplay. Recent examples of this include Resident Evil 5 and Halo 3: ODST.

So there's a new trailer out for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, the latest in the NFS series and the third Hot Pursuit title. However, this trailer comes with something special: a spectacular live action realisation of the chase from the E3 reveal trailer.

In the original trailer, we see an epic chase whereby a Koenigsegg CCX, Pagani Zonda Cinque and McLaren MP4-12C are pursued by two Ford Shelby GT500s, a Bugatti Veyron, a Lamborghini Murciélago and a Bell 206 helicopter. This is all realized (presumably) with the in-game engine and is pretty sweet in itself.

However, it's nothing compared to this real-life chase between an orange Zonda Cinque, police issue Murciélago and Bell 206 through the Italian Alps from the game's marketing team. It's the sort of thing that has to be seen to be believed. Watch the video, and let us know what you think in the comments.

Simbol Design Lavazza GTX-R is a Ferrari Enzo Wannabe with a BMW V12

Let's face it: buying a supercar is hard. They're expensive, they're hard to insure and if you crash one you're bound to see it posted on Carscoop. So what do you do if you crave the supercar looks but can't stomach the supercar hang-ups? You buy an Italian knockoff, that's what.

This here is the Lavazza GTX-R and yes, it does look a lot like a Ferrari Enzo (with a pinch of Pagani) if you squint...and are drunk...and are wearing sunglasses...at night. Ahem.

If you read the Italian version of the site, power comes from a BMW-sourced 5.4-liter V12 producing 489HP that can accelerate the GTX-R from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds. However, the English-language page makes word of the same V12 with 620HP but a 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.6 seconds. Go figure...

Anyway, the GTX-R also comes with a carbon / Kevlar body, tubular steel frame and a 6-speed electro-pneumatic transmission.

Okay, so not quite Enzo beating performance. Still it can be yours for...nope, they're not saying. Oh, and the electro-pneumatic transmission? I'm reliably informed that it's used on busses. Ah well, c'est la vie.

VIDEO: Tiff Needell gets his Hands on the Pagani Zonda R

Ever wonder what it's like to be an automotive journalist? Well, for a select few, there are times when it can be (very) rewarding. See, not many journalists will have the chance to get their hands on a Pagani Zonda R. On the other hand, few are as qualified as Fifth Gear co-host Tiff Needell to justify such a pricey loan and this video stands as a testimony to that.

So, after delighting your eyes with the awesome commercial and remembering why you adore the Zonda R, take a look at Needell running the Italian supercar through its paces.

And just in case your memory fails you, we'll remind you that the supernatural howl comes from a 6.0-liter AMG V12 engine, sourced from the Mercedes Benz CLK-GTR, capable of 750 hp (559 kW) and 523 lb-ft (709 Nm) of torque.

Weighing in at just 2,358 pounds (1,070 kg), this track-ready beast catapults to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.7 seconds and into our hearts with the speed of light.

Million Dollar Plus Pagani Zonda F Crashes Into Parked Cars in Hong Kong

In any other case, a car crashing into some parked vehicles would be just another accident that would most likely have gone by unnoticed. However, when the vehicle involved in the crash is a million dollar plus Pagani Zonda F of which only 25 have been built, the incident is sure to capture our attention. We don't have many details on the crash other than it happened somewhere in Hong Kong, but feel free to check out the pictures after the jump.

Pagani Zonda C9 Prototype Caught On Video

A supercar… stalker managed to capture a Pagani Zonda prototype on film the moment that the vehicle was leaving the company’s headquarters in San Cesario sul Panaro, near Modena, Italy. We’re not absolutely sure of what we’re seeing here, but we're suspecting that the camouflaged Zonda F is a test mule for the forthcoming Zonda C9 that’s expected in 2009. Watch both videos right after the jump. -Continued

Pagani Zonda R: New High-Res Image Renderings And Official Press Release

Before we get into any details on the all-new Zonda R, check out how Pagani finishes off its press release: “The Pagani customers who have ordered the Zonda R will be relieved of almost 1.2 million +taxes”. Relieved? Dude, I’ll bet you a Zonda R that no one is going to feel “relieved” after handing out 1.2 million or $1.65 million plus taxes – not even a billionaire…

Of course, the damn thing looks like it just came out from a Hollywood Sci-Fi blockbuster and despite the fact that many will say it doesn’t look so different than the Zonda F, the Zonda R is actually designed from scratch, with only 10% of the Zonda F components carried over. The R is equipped with a Mercedes-AMG CLK GTR 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 750 Hp @ 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque figure of 710 Nm or 524 lb-ft. -Follow the jump for the high-res image gallery and the official press release

Press Release Zonda R

While we certainly cannot say the Zonda F lacks performance figures, driving around the Nürburgring in 7:32 and achieving lateral G forces of almost 1.5 G, it is however a road car, easy to drive, intuitive and setting the benchmark for comfort, safety and lightweight. Paired with a quality finish and the attention to detail this made the Zonda F one of the most desirable supercars resulting in the 25 Coupé models being sold out in record time.

This did not seem to fulfil the requirements of our most demanding customers, who adore the weekend drive on a racetrack. The spark has been set by an Italo-American customer, enthusiast and already proud owner of 3 Zondas. He describes the project this way: “The thought has been on my mind for quite some time, but I am not interested in racing”. The Zonda R is born with full liberty. The target: the ultimate performance at the racetrack without any implications of rules, except for safety, where no compromise is allowed.

In September 2006 the first drawings were ready, but it was crucial to have the support of Mercedes-AMG for a high revving engine with a power output of 750hp, dry sump, light and with a low centre of gravity. The basis was the self supporting engine of the mighty CLK GTR, which has dominated the GT championships. Eve at constant racing pace the engine would have to cover over 5.000 km before servicing. The challenge has been accepted without hesitation.

The Zonda R is a car designed from scratch, with only 10% of the Zonda F components to be carried over. The suspension forged in Avional, a new Pagani six speed transversal sequential gearbox, carbon fibre monocoque, aeronautical four pump fuel tank are only part of the equation.

The wheelbase has grown by 47mm, the overall length by 394 mm and the track is increased by 50mm. The bodywork and aerodynamics have been studied to offer maximum downforce. Even though built for the track, the project would not have received kick off, if the quality and finish of the car and its details was not up to the level of the Pagani road cars.

One of the first cars to be delivered however will be kept in a living room, designed by Pagani and built with the same materials as the Zonda F, beautifully textured carbon fibre, avional, titanium, inconel and other state of the art materials. Additionally it will feature a bespoke HiFi System that will allow the customer to listen to the sound of this car at Le Mans and the Nürburgring.

Technical Specifications Zonda R

This Zonda is purpose made for track use, without restrictions of any competition rules or homologation, with the only exclusion of the passengers’ integrity, where no compromise is tolerated according to our philosophy and state-of-the-art safety measures are featured.

A new heart

The engine is built by the racing specialists at Mercedes AMG, where the championship winning DTM cars are born, as well as the CLK GTR, probably the most devastating and effective weapon ever to compete in the GT series. From it’s engine the Zonda R borrows the basic architecture including an ingenious dry sump allowing a low centre of gravity. This self-supporting engine with 750 hp at 8000 rpm and 710 Nm of torque carries a lightweight carbon fibre high-performance intake system, a racing multiple disc sintered clutch and Formula 1 style exhaust system, hydroformed in Inconel 625 and ceramic coated for optimal heat dissipation. The power unit combined with a 6 speed transversal manual sequential synchronised gearbox is designed to satisfy the most ambitious drivers.

The chassis

The central carbon chassis will incorporate a roll cage and a rubber racing fuel tank with 4 fuel pumps and quick refuel filler like on GT race cars. The wheelbase has been increased by 47mm to offer the best stability. The front and rear subframes are brand-new, built to accommodate a new suspension geometry, produced in avional. The magnesium forged rims with central wheel nut and a quick pneumatic lifting system allows fast and effortless changes of the slick tyres.

Bodywork and aerodynamics

The new bodywork has been honed to offer elevated downforce even in low speed corners. The longer front bonnet with flaps, closed underbody and the rear overhang with the adjustable rear wing and race derived diffusor translate into shattering aerodynamic efficiency and will let you experience cornering speeds beyond imagination. The car displays and logs information about the amount of dowforce that the car is generating at each moment. Combined with the adjustable wings you can easily find the best setup for each track.

Workstation

The interior is designed to accommodate the driver and passenger in bespoke seats, built to offer the best support, when the G-forces from the vehicle dynamics come into question. The Digitek instrumentation provides the essential information and a sophisticated telemetry allows through a variety of sensors to monitor every single component of the car.
