Vauxhall to Race 3,000HP (Yet Street Legal) 1967 Victor FD Dragster at Silverstone Event

General Motors' Vauxhall division is planning to breathe new life into a classic 1967 Victor FD by turning it into a 3,000-horsepower monster. The car will make its debut at the VXR Power Festival event at the Silverstone Circuit on August 28 and will herald a new partnership between Vauxhall's VXR brand and the Red Victor team for the 2011 MSA Pro-Modified Drag Racing season.

The heavily modified Victor FD will pack a twin-turbocharged 8.8-liter V8 engine from GM, pushing out more than 3,000 ponies. Even though the car is still in development, the Red Victor team claims it should reach a top speed of 240mph (385km/h) and complete the quarter-mile run in about 6.5 seconds, making it the world's fastest Vauxhall.

We don't know how that's possible, but the company noted twice in the press release that the 3000HP Victor will be street legal.

Those that plan to go to the event will also have the chance to see Paul Swift performing some cool stunts in a Vauxhall road car.
